Estee Lauder Portfolio Palette & Elizabeth Arden Red Hot Gift 2013!

Notice the gorgeous colors above! In all, I have a total of 30 eyeshadows to play with so I am very happy when I wake up early in the morning.

I am going to describe what you can do to enhance the use of the 30 eyeshadows above!

Upon closer look on the eyeshadow colors above, if you think you can only use few colors, you are absolutely wrong. This is what I discovered in my makeup research: initially I thought I could only use the 5 white colors on topmost row, plus pink (Candy Crave) and orange (Nude Fresco Satin), which actually shows up gorgeous on my eyes, just used alone it is fine. Notice I mentioned in my 2010 makeup blog as well for these 2 colors, so obviously, these colors haven't changed since Glamour is Golden 2010.......I hadn't treated to myself since my wedding in 2011 and in 2012: I hadn't bought any Estee Lauder sets that used to have a knack of making me high.

I had a good reason in 2011: the colors were just half finished since 2010. Another good reason is Estee Lauder doesn't change its colors very often. Look at Tempting Mocha: it is still here and still giving me a bruised look LOL. This color is destined to not make it while the rest are on their way of being furrowed down to a hole.

The Easy Colors: Purples, Pinks, Orange

Ok, I started by using the two: Candy Crave Pink and Nude Fresco Satin, and shaded the light Flirty Lilac and Amethyst Spark  dark purples as usual. To me, these were such safe options because they look great on my eyes, and followed standard protocol.

More Difficult Experimentation: Greens and Browns

I then proceeded to try different combinations. I tried the following (just for kicks and experimentation):

1) Any pale colored shade belonging to topmost 5 as a brow highlighter, and then gingerly shading on the bottom plummy color which is called "Raisins". That was gorgeous. It gave my eyes a maroon look which I never knew could look so good on me. Ok, A plus for effects.

2) The next day on my experimentation, I tried the light and dark green. They are in the second column, bottom two shades. Specifically called "Mexican Mint" for the lighter one, and "Ivy Envy", which is done in the usual manner of just using the lighter one as a brow highlighter and the one darker one, Ivy Envy as an in the crease shade. I discovered, however, this combination is perfect if used with my YSL bright colored lovely teal in lovely YSL one color packaging, which I shall post up soon, but meanwhile it looks like Elizabeth Arden's only teal green color below. Verdice: these two colors look great only with another Pure color of green, or by the light green itself as it gives a very purish kind of look. The darker Ivy Envy is more bitchy witchy, unless blended very well at the tail end of the eye in the crease.

There is another look that you can create with these two greens by looking at a youtube video here (acknowledging this is not mine), but she has done it very well by mixing a golden brown

3) Brown was the hardest for me. Like what I wrote in 2010 makeup blog, Tempting Mocha was a kind of weird brown that made me look bruised, however, these colors turned out fabulous (not on their own I caution- they gotta be blended well to look fab). These are the colors: a very white base such as Sugar Cube, and blend in the browns such as wild sables and cobblestones. I personally like finishing with pralines as this is a lovely color for a fair lady like me, to be able to contrast it against my skin. I probably can do white sugar cube with Pralines, but it will give too stark a contrast between the white and the yellow-brown, so I decided that blending in with Wild Sables and Cobblestones truly help.

With the greens and browns, you better not make a mistake with the lipstick color. These looks truly need a light brown or orangy brown to complete the look well, and the blushers are definitely apricot or bronzer based. No pinks here please!
